How to Add your 1300 Number to the White and Yellow Pages

Now that you've got a 1300 number (or 1800 number), you want to make it as easy as possible for people to find it. After all, the easier it is for potential customers to find your contact details, the more of them you're likely to hear from!

For sure you'll include your phone number in places like your website, email signature and business cards. It's also a good idea to list it in public directories.

Two of the most common directories that people use to search for businesses are the White Pages® and Yellow Pages®. Even though many of us don't use the paper versions as often as we used to, we still rely on the online and voice versions when we're searching for a number (especially from our smartphones and tablets).

With both of these directories, you can spend as little or as much as you want on your business listing. A free listing will ensure that you’re in the search results, but if you spend a little more to make your listing stand out, you’ve got a better chance of getting noticed and reap the benefits of added sales.

White Pages: FREE

To list your new phone number for FREE in the White Pages, send an email to [email protected] to request your complimentary listing and include the following information:

  • Business name to be listed
  • Physical address to be listed
  • Phone number to be listed
  • Full name of authorised person

Note that it may take up to 5 business days for your request to be processed. You can also call White Pages on 1800 810 211 if you have any questions.

Yellow Pages: FREE

To list your new phone number for FREE in the Yellow Pages, use their online submission tool.

White Pages: PAID Display Ad

The White Pages provides a Build your Listing tool that allows you to customise your listing, for example by adding bold text, colour and images. You can also select to add extra contact details including email and website addresses. As you select each option, it shows you what your listing will look like online, in the printed phone book, and through mobile search.

Unfortunately, they don't provide any pricing details on the web site. Instead, you have to contact them for a quote once your listing is complete.

If you need any help while you're adding your number, including getting an idea about how much your listing will cost, you can call the White Pages on 1800 810 211.

Yellow Pages: PAID Display Ad

For display listings and advertising, the Yellow Pages gives you the option of selecting which version of the directory your ads will appear in, for example Online, Print or Mobile. They also have packages available that combine Print and Digital.

You can find the available advertising products on the Yellow Pages website, or call them for assistance on 1800 209 545.

The key to attracting new customers is to make sure they can find you in the places where they typically look. Getting your new 1300, 1800 number, or phone words into the White and Yellow Pages is certainly a good place to start for many businesses!
