Each number can cost $250 upwards. Once you have secured your number, Alltel—a Smartnumber specialist— can activate it as your provider.

What’s the difference between
purchasing a Smartnumber through
Alltel and the national database?
Smartnumbers (or phonewords) are a national resource regulated by the Australian Communication and Media Authority (ACMA) and can be purchased through the Numbering System website. When purchasing a Smartnumber or phoneword from ACMA, you don’t technically ‘own’ it. You’re given enhanced rights of use (EROU) to that number for the time that you actively use it, which includes the ability to sell or lease that number.
Alltel’s list of phone words are numbers that we hold EROU for and lease them out to you on a region, state or national basis. Leasing our numbers out by local areas allows small businesses like yours to access high value Smartnumbers at a low-cost.
If you do purchase your own Smartnumber from the Numbering System, you will still require a carrier like Alltel to host that number for you. For pricing on hosting your Smartnumber, you can view our 1300/1800 number plans here.
